Morocco Summer Holidays: Secret Beaches, Activities & Insider Tips

Tourists and locals gathering in Marrakech's main square, Jemaa el-FnaaMorocco has many fun filled and exotic things to do for an unforgettable Morocco Summer Holiday!

Tailored Family Adventures on the Atlantic Coast

I have just been putting together a fantastic Morocco summer holiday for some friends and including some of the Atlantic coast’s best kept secret beaches. This is my favourite Morocco summer holiday and can be tailored to suit the amount of time you have and the type of activities you all want to do. A perfect family holiday with time to relax by the pool, walk for miles along sandy beaches or gallop along them on well-trained Arab/Barb stallions! Alternatively, go at a calmer pace on a camel, watching the waves and getting a fantastic tan.

Thrilling Water Sports and Exploration

There are surf and kite surf schools along the coast and your Tour or Holiday itinerary from Marrakech is fully escorted with an English speaking driver in 4×4 transport, so you have constant access to all areas of this stunning coastline. He can recommend places to eat and organise all the activities; surfing, horse riding, camel trekking, fishing and quad biking. If you fancy a sunset trip along the coast for dinner, he can arrange that too.

Hand-Picked Hotels: Style, Comfort, and Authentic Moroccan Charm

I have visited this area many times and hand-picked the best hotels which give you style and comfort with excellent service whilst retaining their authentic Moroccan feel.

Why Morocco Is the Perfect Summer Destination

Morocco is an ideal summer destination, offering a perfect blend of culture and fun. With its pleasant coastal breeze, sunny and warm climate, and bright, clear days, there is ample opportunity to explore beautiful towns and medinas. Unlike Europe, which becomes increasingly crowded and expensive during the summer, Morocco remains a well-kept secret for summer holidays. With flights just 3.5 hours from London and BA, EasyJet and Ryanair all flying directly to Marrakech, it is easy to reach and feels like you have really been away from it all.

Ancient Towns and Moroccan Cuisine

Exploring Morocco’s ancient towns, such as Essaouira, Fes, and Marrakech, offers a glimpse into the country’s rich history. A visit to Marrakech can be perfectly complemented with a retreat to the Atlantic coast, where you can indulge in yoga and spa treatments, or simply relax on the beach or by the pool. Along the way, indulge in the delicious Moroccan cuisine and get lost in the vast array of stalls and shops. Meeting the Berber people adds to the vibrant and colourful atmosphere of any Morocco summer holiday.

Adventures in the Mountains and Beyond

For the more adventurous, hike up the High Atlas Mountains, explore Todra Gorge, or try quad-biking over sandy dunes. A traditional Hammam & Massage is the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring — making Morocco a great summer holiday destination for families, couples, and groups.

Bird Watching at Massa Lagoon

Nature enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to Massa Lagoon, one of Morocco’s top bird reserves. With a pair of binoculars, you might spot a rare bald ibis, along with other wildlife such as the Algerian hedgehog, African wildcat, and Egyptian mongoose.

Discover Agadir’s Famous Kasbah and Berber Museum

Agadir’s famous Kasbah, a medieval fortress atop a hill, offers stunning views of the city. The hillside features three Arabic words meaning “God, king, and country.” Energetic visitors can hike to the top, while others may prefer a taxi ride followed by a camel tour of the ruins. Nearby, the Berber Museum in downtown Agadir provides insights into Morocco’s desert tribes, with exhibits featuring 200-year-old carpets, pottery, jewellery, and ancient manuscripts. You might even catch a live Berber music session.

Relaxation and Revitalisation

If you are seeking relaxation on your Morocco summer holiday, there are numerous offers of Reiki, yoga, meditation, and spa retreats across the country. Relax and revitalise yourself in the warmth and serenity of Morocco.

Is Morocco a good summer holiday destination for families?2026-02-08T23:14:55+00:00

Yes. The Atlantic coast beaches are safe for children, and the range of activities — from camel rides and boat trips to craft workshops in the medinas — keeps all ages occupied. Summer holiday itineraries can be fully escorted by a private 4×4 and an English-speaking driver, making travel with children straightforward. Many of the hotels and riads we use have pools and family rooms. For more details, see our Morocco family holiday guide.

What are the best things to do on a Morocco summer holiday2026-02-08T23:13:20+00:00

The Atlantic coast is the highlight of a Moroccan summer holiday. Activities include surfing, horse riding and camel trekking along the beaches, quad biking on the dunes, and kite surfing at spots near Essaouira. Inland, you can visit the Berber Museum and Kasbah in Agadir, explore the Massa Lagoon bird reserve, or hike in the Atlas Mountains early in the day. Evenings are perfect for exploring the medinas, eating at rooftop restaurants, or enjoying a traditional hammam and massage.

Is Morocco too hot to visit in summer?2026-02-08T23:12:05+00:00

Morocco’s Atlantic coast stays comfortable through summer, with temperatures around 25–30°C in towns such as Essaouira and Agadir. Inland cities, including Marrakech and Fes, can reach 40°C or higher, so most summer itineraries combine a day or two in the city with time on the coast or in the Atlas Mountains, which are cooler. Your driver can adjust the schedule around the heat, and most riads and hotels have pools for downtime during the hottest part of the day.
