Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate

Your private, air-conditioned 4×4 will pick you up to take you through the stunning Atlas Mountains, stopping at the UNESCO World Heritage Berber town of Ait Ben Haddou to explore. Spend the night at our recommended authentic Kasbah hotel.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Erg Chegaga

After breakfast, head into the heart of the Sahara Desert passing through the town of Taznakht, famous for its Berber rug making. Continue on to Foum Zguid and head off-road into the desert, driving across the salt lake of Iriqui. Arrive at your Nomadic camp at the tall dunes of Erg Chegaga to receive a warm Berber welcome and spend the evening under a sky full of stars enjoying delicious traditional food.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga

Today you will head in to the Sahara Desert with your experienced team. Choose to ride camels, go on foot or by 4×4 to meet a family of truly Nomadic people who still carve a life out in the depths of the Sahara today. With a translator, have the unique opportunity of meeting people from a life and culture which continues to exist today but is very rare.

Day 4: Erg Chegaga – Zagora

Your driver will arrive to take you out of the desert to the town of Zagora to stay in our highly recommended Lodge hotel.

Day 5: Zagora – Marrakech

Return directly back to Marrakech with plenty of stops, arriving at your Riad in time for dinner on the terrace.

Reduce your trip to 4 days by returning to Marrakech directly from Erg Chegaga or Extend your trip to 6 days by spending another night in the Sahara or at the Lodge in Zagora.

Perfect partner for a wonderful moroccan experience Moroccan Journeys was the perfect partner for our vacations. Rebecca was super kind, guiding us to define the perfect itinerary, and supportive when we needed to make last minute changes due to Covid. Our driver Mohamed was very engaged, friendly, patient, always on time, and making sure that things run smoothly.

Mémorable Un voyage de 3 jours dans le Désert Erg Chegaga en compagnie de notre merveilleux guide Salem. Tout était parfait autant l’accompagnement que le séjour sous tente. Un moment de pur bonheur et découverte. Des dunes, couché et levé de soleil dans le désert complément silencieux, sandboard et promenade en dromadaire… et surtout un accueil authentique de la part des nomades dans le camp.

JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED---A TRIP OF A LIFETIME---DELIVERED! Moroccan Journeys---run by Rebecca and Mohamed--was absolutely fantastic in every respect.. I would recommend in an instant---and I thoroughly evaluated many groups/companies, several more than double the price. But Moroccan Journeys delivered 150%----I haven't for one second regretted the decision. This was a 12 day trip of a lifetime. What was so wonderful about Moroccan Journeys? First, Rebeccca's familiarity with Morocco (her other half lives there) and her availability to discuss by email/zoom/etc...Her excellent suggestions which turned out to be right-on in terms of where to go and stay (for instance, Chez Pierre and Nubia Luxury Tent Resort rather than Erg Chebbi). And then, when my wife wanted to make a change mid-trip, we called Rebecca from the middle of the desert--she answered right away---graciously took care of everything and we were able to change the next couple of nights for the better! And Mohamed, Rebecca's husband, even surprised us and check in on us at our hotel in Ourzazate (which was another wonderful Riad recommended by Rebecca). Our driver, Mohamed (a different Mohamed) was WONDERFUL!!!!!! We both loved Mohamed and missed him when we didn't do much driving on days where we just stayed put...He was first of all a phenomenal driver---extremely safe, knew exactly where/when to stop for bathroom break, coffee, lunch....gave us great advice---played wonderful music---knew what seemed like every road (and off-road) in Morocco--and even brought us to his home and our time in his home with his extended family for a few hours was one of our trips many highlights. The car was clean and safe and comfortable and durable....I am sure that other groups/companies do a good job---but Moroccan Journeys, thanks to Rebecca and Mohamed---was absolutely the single best decision I made when planning this buckle list trip for me and my wife. If you want high-end luxury chain hotels with lots of tourists, then maybe go elsewhere. If you want a personally crafted, absolutely amazing authentic but luxurious, safe and off-the beaten path adventure, with the peace of mind that Rebecca and Mohamed are there for you throughout the trip, choose Moroccan Journeys----its a no-brainer! So happy to give them our 4 thumbs up and more!

What an adventure! We booked a 14 night tour of Southern Morocco with Moroccan Journeys and we really can't fault them. We had a driver/guide and 4x4 transport for the whole time. We started and ended in Marrakesh via, High Atlas Mountains, Ait Bin Haddou, Skoura, Dades and Todra Gorges, Mid Atlas Mountains, Zagora, Tamegroute, Mhamid el-Ghizlane, Chegaga, El Mhamid, Taliouine, Taroudannt, Sidi Rabat, Essaouira and Beddouza. The accommodation was a mixture of large hotels, boutique hotels and guest houses. All were fantastic. We took half board options for most as some of the hotels are remote. There was a lot of travelling but our driver/guide was careful and considerate. We particularly enjoyed his local knowledge of the Chegaga and surrounds. We had a magical time at the desert camp Erg Chegaga. The team there made us feel very welcome. The camel trek and sand storm were particular highlights!

Memorable desert adventure Fantastic 4 day trip from Marrakech to the dessert vie high Atlas and back. Our driver, multi-linguist and Berber musician Hassan could not do enough for us and helped make the trip memorable. The desert camp and Hassan’s remarkable desert knowledge, driving and general bon homie were highlights. This holiday was postponed from pre Covid but so glad we finally made it. Thanks Moroccan Journeys!

Trip of a lifetime!!! This was the most incredible experience of my life! By far the BEST tour guide we have ever had. Salem was an absolutely wonderful tour guide. He was very knowledgeable & beyond helpful and kind. We always felt extremely safe & in great hands! He knew all the best spots to stop for coffee & food. The desert tent was perfect & so beautiful. The food at the camp was amazing. 10/10!! Thank you Moroccan Journeys, Salem, and Nubia desert camp!

Trip of a lifetime I just spent a week in Morocco on a girls' getaway to celebrate all of us turning 50. We did a 3-day trip into the desert with Salem as our Gide. It was quite the experience. We saw so much of the Moroccan landscape, we learned so much about Moroccan life from Salem and we had some fantastic meals. We signed up for the trip as we wanted to go into the desert and sleep in a tent, but I personally found the trip to and from the desert equally as special as was the destination itself. It was not just a great trip, but my girlfriends and I all agreed it was a trip of a lifetime and our trip into the desert was the highlight of that trip. All in all I would say the experience was somewhat magical. Thank you Salem.

A blessing in Morocco Our trip to Morocco will be a tale to remember. Our most memorable part of our trip will forever be our guide Mohammed who treated us like family throughout our stay. We will forever have a new friend in Morocco. We could not have asked for a better guide. We felt safe at all times and traveled with ease. Rebecca and her team are certainly experts in customized travel and communication is Superb. From the golden sand dunes, breathtaking architecture, to the vibrant medinas to uncovering the ancient ruins of Volubilis. Exploring the coast line and the delectable cuisine from North to South warms the heart. Morocco certainly has it all and is certainly the trip of a lifetime. Thank you team!

8 day trip We absolutely loved this trip! Family of 5 with 3 young children travelling from Marrakesh, Ait Ben Haddou, Erg Chegaga, Taroudant, Essaouira to Marrakesh with Yousef as a our awesome driver. Always punctual, informative and upbeat, such a wonderful guide around the southern part of Morocco. Plenty to see and plenty to do, accommodation an excellent mixture of Riad (Riad Kheirredine, Marrakesh) to hotel, tented camp, luxury hotel (Taroudant…amazing) then Eco Domes on the outskirts of Essaouira. Weather perfect too.
